I undertake the keepering on a local shoot and yesterday was the first serious skirmish of the season (we have had a few outside days and vermin shoots). Plenty of pheasants but the guns need a bit of practice as 275 shots resulted in 40 pheasants, 4 pigeons and 1 woodcock. Must admit that the birds on some of the drives are pretty difficult. Nevertheless everone had a good time and I collected a bucketful of mushrooms for good measure.

Sounds like a good day all round, hope you have a great season. If you need any help clearing up the cocks at the back end of the season......
