Its be on my mind for a few weeks...last night an offer in Focus - 34.00 pushed me over the edge; the Panther "push" mower. I have a medium sized lawn on a slight slope and I normally use a 4 stroke petrol 38" cut. Some points I've noted:
1) Its faster...no preperation, no leads.
2) Its much lighter just over 6Kgs.
3) A far superior cut.
4) Its virtually slient.
Any other members got examples of going "backwards" and found it better?
Hi there Slipsurfer - YES! We got one of these (for free, as it turns out, through www.freecycle.net) and have been using it ever since - both in the garden and at the allotment to keep the pathways trimmed.
It's a lot less bother than a hover, I must say ...
Along similar lines I find my scythe much more comfortable and far less knackering to use than a petrol strimmer, on all those weeds. Doesn't take any longer either.
