Seemed like a good thing to do, no idea if this sort of thing makes business sense.

I wouldn't have thought it would make a great difference financially to your business but is a nice thing to do and will boost your profile.

I have done the same, sponsored the local football team. Got my business name on the strip and a photo in the paper, but made no difference to my business I don 't think. Better than paying tax if there is plenty of profit, almost felt obliged to do it as they pester a different business each season and it was "my turn"!

We are getting the logo on the strips, my assumption was apart from any other mercenary considerations, that it would work better for tax purposes if this was clearly a deal where there was some tangible benefit for us.
