I am soon to move to Wales and, getting my priorities right, I shall want some chickens. I don't need too many eggs so I would like to get three bantams which lay different coloured eggs. If they are placid and easy-going that would be a bonus as they will be "pets". Breed suggestions with egg colours would be much appreciated.

Does placid and easy going go with bantams? Larger fowl tend to have them capabilities more so. Where in Wales are you moving to Sue?

I have araucana for blue, welsummer for brown (really good layers), pekin for cream and d'anvers for white. You can fit a d'anvers in without really noticing because they are soooooo tiny

Ystradgynlais. South Wales nearish to Neath.

I had to find out how to pronounce before I spoke to the estate agent

Sounds good, thank you Chez. I'm sure I could find room for an extra one and tiny is good where pet chickens are concerned. I've had an araucana and a pekin before - the araucana was a bit bonkers. Actually that might be an understatement. She was very entertaining, however.

Know it well,nearing the top end of the Swansea Valley,
Not far from where i used to live before.
