I've put up a thing recommending the basic books and other resources I think make a good starting point for people considering downsizing. I've only put up things I myself have read and used, ie haven't done the Polly Ghazi book which sounds interesting, and haven't done anything specific like chickens or growing (apart from Kitchen Garden mag).
Anyway, if anybody has any comments or suggestions please say - perhaps others could do similar (and much better) "reading lists" on their specialist subjects - I know there're already posts looking for livestock books and recommending gardening books etc.
Yesterday I got two books on bee-keeping and one on cheese making from the library. I doubt I'll do anything practical with them for a few years to come but I'd love to hear from the more experienced as to what they'd recommend.

The book that gave me most inspiration in gardening
No work Gardening or possibly called The No Work Garden
by Ruth Stout
I borrowed it several times from the local library and recommend it 100%
It may well be out of print, but is worth looking out for.

Excellent article Bugs, It felt like you had raided my library before writing this.
the only book I would add would be 'The Complete book of raising livestock and poultry' by Katie Thear.
Think of it as the practical foil to Paul Heiney's book for the imagination!
