I have an old water tank that I want to use to capture rainwater. The ball float mechanism will work to stop water flow when full, and divert the rainwater down an existing overflow. But, what can I use to connect the trough fittings (25mm MDPE) to the gutter diverter? https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-square-rainwater-diverter-black-65-68mm

I have to have an extra pipe because the point of attachment of the diverter is well above the level of the tank - normally it's about water levels.

Alternatively, I'm overthinking the whole thing and need a hosepipe and jubilee clips?

jubilee clips, hose, bits of pipe to grip onto, etc is often effective

milliput and gaffer tape have their uses during scrapheap challenge

is the ball valve needed?
water in til full, water out of overflow when full? keeping the water in the right place should be simple
