If you've got livestock as a (meat) business, you know FMD might just be a bit of a pain. No sales now, extra feed bills, and then, when the restrictions are lifted, you may have a surplus of slaughtered beasts to go.

I'd dare to suggest that now, right now, you should be pushing sales, taking orders and even deposits for beasts available when it's over. It'll help you plan, remove the glut, and aid cash flow. You'll find people are glad to be able to plan a bit, to spread the cost a bit, and even simply to do their bit to help, in some cases.

I don't want this to come across as
a) capitalising on someone else's misfortunes or
b) teaching my grandparents to suck eggs, but life goes on, and if it helps a tiny bit...

I'll also post this link here which may be of use if you're having money problems due to FMD. Details from HM Revenue & Customs, "Tax Bulletin Special Edition - Foot and Mouth Disease" https://www.hmrc.gov.uk/bulletins/tb-se(2001).htm#intro

Nick, I reckon you could see an opportunity in anything! Would you mind coming and pursuading my boss I need a promotion and a pay rise?!

Good point- now those who have bought in bulk & filled their freezers before have been insulated from this effect to a certain extent, so get your order in early & stock up as soon as the ban is lifted!

No, twas about a half day, actually, cowbag.

And I've barely had a drink since the weekend. Cheeky gits.
