Hi

I'm just about to build a new chicken run but the area i want to use will have a couple of plum and damson trees inside.
Does anyone know if its safe for the birds to eat any fallen fruit ??

Cheers

Yes, ours scoff Victoria plums on the ground and up to 2-3ft above the ground when they can reach them until they have had enough, and then just take one peck out of each plum to annoy you!

The can eat apples and soft fruits but I don't know if they would eat the stones in the damsons. I'm sure someone would be able to advise as I bet the hens will try.

When ours get hold of stone fruit they tend to pick off the flesh and leave the stones. I think your chooks would thank you very much for building their run by the fruit trees!
