This just came up on my Facebook page. If it's real then our ï¿½53 a week is going to go on tax anyway

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world... We had absolutely no national debt, had a large middle class,a huge manufacturing base, and Mum stayed home to raise the kids.

Oh, and don't forget the relatively new bank charges....
And we all know what we think of Bankers.

In the main it goes to pay for the services people who come up with lists like that demand.

If you want to pay less tax then expect less services. If you want all the services then do your best to get a job that pays well so you can pay a good amount of tax. Simple.

Just to point out that the part you quoted is not my words LOL. I have no problem with taxes per se but do question the way we are taxed for things on such a wide scale while the services that we receive seem to get less and less. I am probably financially naive but it does seem that we are at present in a society where we are becoming more segregated than we have been for a long time. Pete

Most of that list is fantasy/bollocks and it doesn't even look as if it originated in the UK. GST is Australian isn't it? I keep telling my aged parents to ignore the silly lists they get by email/facebook but they don't listen. edit: I would agree with the whole thesis behind 'the spirit level'.

Not financially, no, but historically, yes. We have loads more services these days that we didn't have 100 years ago. My family unit only exists because of those services. There were also about 1.7bn people on the planet back then, these days it is creeping closer to 7.1bn.
