Yep, I'm definitely in the right place to ask this, downsizer and this bit of the forum.

I have just taken another torn sheet off the line. I seem to be forever buying them!

I have flat cotton sheets that have been used on beds in this house for at least 75 years which, it's true, are now looking a little worn out. I want to replace these and not the rubbish I seem to have bought in the last few years.

So where do I find heavy, smooth, white, cotton (fitted) sheets that my grandchildren will inherit? And will I need to keep mentioning the price of tractors when I buy them?

I wondered about that when I was looking for a super king sized quilt cover. I will compare the price once I find some good quality sheets. They only need to be double though. Super king sized quilt on a double bed is working out rather well.

If the wear is in the middle then yes. If not it's patching, and once they start to go it becomes an endless task. Ask me how I know

That heavy cotton sheeting looks good.

Double sheets can at least be 'sides to middle' d, but having slept on a single sheet that had been done to, I can't recommend it.

Strangely, using a washing machine and sometimes a tumble drier (I know, hangs head), I find poly-cotton sheets actually last longer than ordinary cotton ones, but of course they are not the high quality ones you are talking about.
