i put total family income i.e. him and me though he earns more than i do

we don't do badly together but the animals mean that for the present time anyway we must both stay working while we can

we have no opportunities for overtime so our money must cover everything. we have a few savings, mostly in premium bonds and our payout from the firm (god knows how old we will be) should cover the rest of the mortgage. it was an old and run down house and we do it ourselves as much as possible, and recycle as much of our own stuff into the renovations as we can, that is where a large chunk of the money goes along with animal housing and feeds etc and vets bills, and animal insurance and etc, etc, etc

we do have a good car, but we only have one and it will have to last us another 3 years at least before we can even think about changing it

in a nutshell we are careful and hopefully one day in the not too distant, will be able to go part time

household income just under 12K, mostly servicing debts at the mo! When they are gone, we'll live just as well on half that. Can't wait!!! Means we have to move slowly though, and increase a bit at a time, but that's proabably the safest way anyway.
