Anyone else feeling like crap My diet since xmas day has been way to salty what with parties etc. even if you are dishing up things like home smoked Salmon or Beef Jerky it doesn't make it balanced, and I confess a certain amount of plain junk gto into the equation

Definatly time to get back on the straight and narrow.

We always have a lot of fruit in the house, all those anti-oxidants seem to make you feel better relatively quickly.

Well, we went to spain, and I have never eaten so much crap in my entire life! I'm sure there is good food in Spain, but we never found it. Tapas consisted of toasted cheese sandwiches and hot dogs, dinner of meat, chips if were lucky and you only get salad if you order it as your starter. If you order chicken, that is exactly what you get (and nothing else!) the occasional paella was so oversalted as to be totally inedible (as were all the salads)

I have never missed vegatables so much in my entire life!

Happy New Year, Love Clarie

I've found the quality and diversity of restaurant food in Spain to be very low, we usualy cook indoors when we go.

Certainly had little to impress us when we went, so we mostly self catered.

Glad it wasn't just us - I wonder what happend to spanish cusine? Their produce is excellent quality, and we will be cooking for ourselves next time. I'm going to take a load of organic meat over (frozen) and have a big cook up with mum. You can't even get free range eggs!

The fruit & veg in the markets are better than the supermarket stuff but they don't seem to be into organic at all. You can usually buy free range eggs in the supermarkets but I can't remember what the bloody hell they're called.

we've eaten well this holiday as I've had more time to cook, but I admit that Thursday night we reached for the frozen pizza just as a simple antidote to roast turkey, homemade soup, or sausages and braised red cabbage. funny that...

Its my alcohol levels that have gone up! having a couple of dry days at the moment as I was getting dehydrated I think!

I had a bit of a shock New Year's Eve - being a bit tiddly I had some cheesy wotsits and they blistered the roof of my mouth. God knows what they do to your insides

I feel at least today will be a "dry" day.

Have just knocked up a massive brisket stew with loads of veggies to get us back on track with the eating

We had very little in the way of junk food - we had the salted nuts, etc, and the chocolate, but the rest was basically home-made/produced. Plenty of veg, tons of fruit, juice, etc. Lots of fresh air. I judged it well, too - there's four dates, a few haelnuts and one piece each of cake and pudding left. Plus a bit to drink.........................

It being Sunday, we are having roast chicken (with double vegatables, and bread sauce). After all that Spanish rubbish, I can't wait. However there are 12 litres of olive oil and an unmentionable quantity of red wine to show for it!

Mixed peppercorns are also a good buy out there.
