Silas you obviously have very little background knowledge on this and yet you persist in going from one issue to another when you have exhausted all avenues on the current one.
As i have stated I would not shoot a mink with an Air rifle due to the chances of a clean kill being limited. but normal Air rifle hunting ranges would apply ie, 30-40 yards to guarantee a humane shot in ideal situations ie, the little git keeping his head still long enough to shoot it.

Silas I've seen it with my own eyes! I might be many things but I'm not a liar.
I'm sure that you have verifiable proof of your claim that Hooray Henrys as you call them release foxes into the wild for hunting purposes.
If you really want proof, I'm sure that I can arrange some for you this Winter.
I repeat. I've seen it with my own eyes and there are a number of people ( not hunters) who have also seen vans full of foxes from away.
These stories are apocryphal. There is no and never has been any proof that this has happened.
One of our local MPs Michael Fabricant, made a complete tit of himself when he made similar allegations and was shot down in flames by both the police and the RSPCA who categorically stated that there has been no proof that this has ever happened and all enquiries had drawn complete blanks.
Silas.
I hope you reported whoever it was that you say you saw use a gin trap !
Are you sure it was a gin trap because any responsible person would have reported the incident !
Did the matter get taken to court ?
What about your claim ? Was that acro wotsit as well !
You believe exactly what you want to believe.
You're mind is obviously closed shut.

More than once, probably nearer thirty times and yes, I reported and took the damned things to our police station, but I have never heard anything more about it.

No, it is well documented as you probably already know.

But as you say now illegal, that applies to most overtly cruel methods of pest control nowadays, even for rats/mice etc.
Not really, a spring mouse or rat trap works on a similar principle, but because they are 'vermin' it seems allowable. But they do not always kill cleanly, it is quite common for a rat or mouse to have a limb amputated by one of these things or be caught by the tip of its face, leaving it to die quite horribly.

Tell me more
Oh, no............. do we really have to go into this one again.
You can research it quite easily, it is no secret and I think you will find that the response from the hunting fraternity is that it may have happened in the past, but it stopped a few years ago.
Are you a qualified pest controller ? I think not !
You are talking about matters that you quite obviously know nothing about !
Answer me ! Which legal traps amputate the limbs of rats and mice?
I'm trying not to make this personal even though you have chosen to ignore my word, but you are talking Tommy rot !
I repeat What type of trap ?

Listen Silas. You've made the claim as though it was the truth . You research it. I deal with practicalities, so should you !

Not a qualified pest controller no.
The ones that do the damage are the type that are often depicted in cartoons, with a lump of cheese as bait - you must know the ones surely? When the trap is sprung, a metal 'hoop' type affair flys over and is designed to break the animals back - in theory great, but they dont always work as planned. Sometimes if the animal is moving through the trap, the hoop will catch a leg or part of the animals face.
Personal. not at all.
I do, however, request a little more than your word when making somewhat wild allegations.
Yes I just about know the ones.
I've used them thousands of times in the last 40 odd years . As I say, I've got practical experience with break back traps and I'm yet to find an amputated limb .
I trust that you are not going to acuse me of making yet another 'wild allegation'
Anyway folks. Entertainment over for the night, I think my friend has dug a deep enough hole for himself. A cider beckons.

No not at all.
I have used them in the past, but finding a small mouse with its snout caught under the wire put me off them for life.
Talking about it to many people, it appears that this is not uncommon, and whilst it is perfectly true that most times they will work as they should, the plain fact is, sometimes they don't.
