I have very rusty teeth making skills...(that is my skills are rusty not the teeth I make!!!) and can (...and very well I might add) also do tattooing and body piercing. Alas I do not speak any foreign languages!!! Does Ireland have an RSPCA (ISPCA????) because that is where I work now (at the RSPCA call centre believe it or not!!!)

They do indeed .. the ISPCA .. don't know if they have a call centre tough .. you might try www.nixers.ie too .. it has loads of unusual jobs ...

Yes, there is an ISPCA which is split into different counties ie here in Galway it is the GSPCA. It's all volunteer work though, unless you join it through Fï¿½s (Fï¿½ras Aiseanna Saothar -> a body to help the unemployed gain experience and employment) in which case you would get paid.

Dog Warden - still have dog licences here??? Dentistry in all forms VERY lucrative no NHS, loads of specialist denture clinics, may find places there?

Great!!! My denture repair skills are still intact so maybe thats the place to start. I have sent an email to the ISPCA asking about their Cruelty Helpline (their equivalent of where I work now) so will maybe get a good reply. It seems like my dream may yet become reality CHEERS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

i know the last post was sep but hey, galway is a very big county, daughter is renting just outside the city at E1000 a month, just a 4 bed house, the one next door sold for E460.000, same house in roscommon about E200.000, big diff.
takes me about 45 mins to get to galway (on a good day) lol.
i was given some land to build so couldnt go wrong, would have chosen a bit nearer the coast but cant have it all, not cheap to live here but as said before no council charge and no water rates, been here nearly 5 yrs now and it does take time to settle in, but wouldn't change it now, well apart from the weather......

Any big city costs a premium but the real bargains are renovation projects most are old cottages on 1 - 2 acres

Are the locals getting fed up with all these people comming to live their yet, at some point wont prices go beyond local means?

I don't know about other places but where we are the locals welcomed us fairly well .. they say that we brought life back to the hamlet ... like it used to be 20 years ago with the chooks and everything .. as for prices .. I have no clue ... but I would think this is the case around Galway city itself or the other big towns where most of the jobs are ..

Our neighbours seem happy enough too! Three men took pity on OH and have pitched in to help finish the fencing....
