She is Saffranne, she's eating well and out rooting around a bit and she's stopped looking for her litter in the pigshed - that was really the worst part. I was so sorry for her.
I sometimes reckon I'm too soft for this lark. |
same here,it is always the same when you have animals, whether its dogs, cats, horses or farmyard,it is heartbreaking when you lose them, still we carry on and it is because we care, part of life and experience as well
do try again when she is fit and ready, and the best of luck for the future

Oh, Hardworkinghippy,
I am so sorry to hear that your little piglet died.
Azura Skye told me about him yesterday, on the way up to the Welsh Downsizers meeting at Aberystwyth, and I was really hoping that he would survive.
It is always much worse when they last a couple of days or so, isn't it? We are determined that they will live, and do our very best for them, and take every loss as our failure.
I, too, am often too soft for this lark, and have a young goatling who has a possible urinary tract infection. Unfortunately, she is not with me at the moment, as she has gone to be mated (successfully), and is still with the breeder.
I can only hope that the breeder will take care of her for me. (I know that she is doing so, but it is still not the same as doing it myself)
But I am already worried about the effect an infection will have not only on her, but also any possible kids.
How is Peggy now? It is heartbreaking enough when young animals call for their mums and vice-versa after weaning, but at least they have six months or longer together.
I wish her (and you) all the very best for a speedy recovery, and hope that piglet's tree grows tall and strong.
