Hiya, you know when you pick up the instep stitches around the side of the heel, how can you do it so it doesn't look all holey? Do you pick up stitches from further in or nearer the edge for best results??

Thanks in advance

Nettie

If you are picking them up from the right side then I pick them one loop in, and it keeps the edge neater without the holes you are talking about.

Thanks Alison, will try it next time - it's too fiddly to unravel it all!

Do I take that to mean you aren't into knitting, Lloyd?

I'm useless as knitting. Spent months making my friend a pair of bootees for her baby, didn't fit her (the baby!) by the time I had finished them. Ah, well.

Yup I'm doing them on 4 needles. Although it feels more like 104

Take no notice of Lloyd. He's just pissed off cos Deerstalker was nicer to me than him.

Holes add a bit of ventilation.
