Very true, and apparently the most effective way to administer drugs, intravenous aside. I'd prefer not to try it though. Awful the idea of an enema is, they can save a lot of embarassment.

I should have added, if you are female...

Apparently, when women give birth, it is fairly normal for them to 'make a mess' IYSWIM. To avoid this, often enemas are given prior to the birth. My SIL had heard horror stories about what happens, but was so keen to get the baby out as it was well overdue, her and her hubby went got a take away curry to kick start things. As she usually has a korma (wuss), she decided that this wouldn't be enough, so went for a 'hot' bhoona. The curry did the trick, and a couple of hours later, she went to hospital. She regretted the curry later...

Sorry.

I thought I'd add it as I had no idea that accidents frequently happen during childbirth, and therefore you should ask for an enema beforehand, and under no circumstances have an Indian meal (which I'd heard was a popular way to help encourage the baby out). I'm sure I'm not the only one on here yet to have kids, so thought that it might be useful for others to know about.

I'll zap my post if you'd prefer - just tell me.

I just thought I'd catch up on living in France - nope, enemas and "accidents" in childbirth - only on Downsizer (I thought giving birth felt like having the biggest poo of your life to be honest!)

I cannot wait until my French property is finished and we can sell up and move over . I went working on my property last week and it is really hard to come back to the UK. By the way Britain came 37th in the same poll which says it all .

Properties with acres of land from �25K , low crime, better weather, superb schooling and health services , better (and cheaper) standard of living , easy to get back to UK for other family etc .

I could buy a farmhouse with five acres of land in Brittany or a beachhut at Bournemouth for the same money ....

Property tax in Brittany �140 per year ... ( includes tv license)
Council tax in Poole Dorset �2000 per year ...

Burglar gets caught in Poole, takes 200 other offences into consideration and gets community service.
Burglar gets caught in France minimum sentence two years.

I cannot think of one thing that Brittain is better than France for/at ..............I was going to suggest cricket .......LOL

I am English , my wife is Hungarian and I have family living in Germany but sorry France is best ...........

Most top designers in most fields are British. Note that that symbol of French engineering, the bridge over the Massife Central is designed by a Brit.

Hell, they wanted to join us back in the fifties.

One of the reason services are so plentiful and cheep in France is that it does not play fair when it comes to nationalisation and protectionism.

Having thought about it British music is far better than French , a week of Breton radio was quite hard going . Have to get the sky dish fitted asap for the digital radio.

British music better than French? Any culture has it's fair share of carp music but France has some pretty good talent - Axel Red, Patrick Bruel, Florent Pagny, Goldman, Renaud - I could go on. I think if I listened to Radio 1 for any amount of time I'd suspect that British music was not that good.
