Need some ideas for a trading name for the socks, hats and shawls bit of my business. Its all very well trading as 'me' but if I want to market this particular bit more widely I need something a bit different.

I did like WildWelshWoollies, but having looked at a couple of official websites it seems its frowned on to have a trading name that includes the name of a country, apparently I'd need a special dispensation from the secretary of state or something

So, back to the drawing board. The plan is that this bit of my plan for world domination (no no I mean financial independance) will include the hand knitted hats and also some hat kits which are a mix of ultra practical tried and tested designs like the Monmouth caps and the more fun but still practical knit and felted pixie hats, knitted pointy hats etc. The socks are going to be marketed based on them being made on an antique hand cranked machine (muscle powered) and I have three main ranges in mind, the traditional 'kilt socks' which also do the re-enactors very well, an uber-ethical version in guarenteed British wool from named breeds, undyed or natural dyes, in sets of three (one spare in case of accidents!)with mending wool included, (actually virtually all my wool is British but I can't always prove it easily, so I wouldnt push that unless I was sure) and a range that is still on the drawing board aimed at the 'welly wearer' which will be a long boot sock in bright fun colours inspired by particular vegetables, animals or seasons in machine washable wool. The stoles are my all wool or wool/silk mix shawls that can be worn as wraps, hoods or small blankets.

I am drawing a complete blank at the moment for possible names that would work for this general range, I want it to sound fun and a bit different, but I also want it to work if, say, you saw an advert for this in a posh gardening or country magazine.

Any thoughts? If by any chance you conjur up the name I eventually go with a set of my welly socks are yours

I found jotting random words down on a bit of paper very helpful, when looking for our name. Put down all the words that describe what you do, then random words you happen to like. and see what materialises

I like WildWelshWoollies too but how about 'wildwoolies'? or 'The Woolie Wilds?'

does your house have a name? you could incorporate that or your surname maybe

I like 'Woollie Wilds' or should that be 'Woolly Wilds'?

Another thing that can help is to write a pen portrait of a typical customer.. their age, sex, interests etc etc.. and then think of names that may appeal to them..

Could you use any old Welsh place names from near to you instead of 'Welsh' in your name?

Myself, I might go with something like 'Your mother knits socks in hell' but probably not many people would get the joke
