www.renovatealerts.com/property This is a brilliant site but you have to pay a subscription per month for them to notify you, but there are some good things on there.

No one's perfect, I'm sure we all have done something embarassing in the past .

This lot all have rural properties in the NDJ this week (obviously we Torrington dwellers don't regard ourselves as rural)
www.cowling-commercial.co.uk have a 15 acre quarry on a 28 acre site with tipping rights for 450 000. But I guess running a landfill site isn't what most people here regard as the dream.

Thanks sean & others, time to have a good look around this weekend. Either or depending on what I find.

We found our house by a method sugested by friends as it had worked for them.

1 - write down all the things you want your new home to have however outlandish and impractical. We wanted a river, outbuildings, garage/workshop, trees, lovely neighbours, 2 bedrooms, beams, stonebuilt, fruit trees, sunny garden, bus stop, huge deep bath, woodburner, big sitting room, red front door, stone circle.

2 - sign your paper at the bottom and pin it up in a place you will see it often. We put ours in the sitting room, keep it there until your new home comes along.

3 - put you house on the market.

4 - register with agents in your chosen area and drive around it on the weekend, pen and paper in hand.

its works, we got all we had on our list except for the red front door and the stone circle. But there is a stone circle about 6 miles away, so not bad really.

There are actually quite a few run down properties here in Haute Vienne, France but they are being snapped up fast so you better be quick if you can cope with the language barrier. Please feel free to PM me anyone who would like contact info for estate agents in our area. We have met alot of English families since buying our place two years ago and most of them, like us are self-sufficiencers.
