When I first brewed beer I did some youthful experiments thinking the more sugar you add to a bottle the more alcohol it would get. I managed to blow up a solid Grolch (sp?) bottle by adding three heaped teaspoons of sugar. I also found out if the bottle survives and you open it, even if it's been thoroughly chilled, most of the beer shoots out of the bottle.

I was going to wait until it had nearly finished fermenting and either bottle or add a tiny amount of sugar and bottle in fizzy water 1l bottles.
