I don't fancy keeping turkeys, they're so damn ugly. Might make them easier to eat though

Don't you have to keep them apart from your chickens in case they catch something? (Black something?)

They may well do, if I ever get any flippin land I'll consider it but only if it's over 15 acres, up to 15 acres the only livestock I'd have are chickens

That's a lot of chickens!

I was going to suggest bee-keeping for Tahir, they are smaller, and it is the norm to wear protective gear!

I reckon I'd only keep up to a max of 100 chickens, for a mix of meat and egg production. Just enough to keep me and my (extended) family self sufficient

Trees are my thing, absolutely love 'em, I'm going on a course in agroforestry and another on forest gardening, so it'll be probably be something like (ideal scenario, 15 acres)

2 acres cultivated, various crops
1 acre under glass in various greenhouses/polytunnels
5 acres mixed woodland with limited coppicing and sap harvesting as well as fungus cultivation (can't wait for the article on mushroom cultivation)
1 acre extremely fragrant garden including a magnolia forest
And the rest as orchard/nut groves

Trees are good - I like trees too.

Are you planning to give up the day job when you find your place?
