A friend of mine made all sorts of car boot liners and wellie bags and wotnot by something involving ironing plastic bags. I cannot remember any more details than that, but it worked really well.

Both bags are wonderful! Where did you find such colourful bags? All I ever have are supermarket carriers... clear plastic with the logo... I am going to give this a go when I have settled in

The link doesn't seem to work, for me. If I click on Svetlana's www button it leads to an album of pictures of crocheted bags though.

What? You all don't have plastic bags? What do your bread products come in?

How do you get your groceries/goods home from the store?

You can buy bread products etc wrapped in plastic, but I think a lot of us on here would choose to buy ones from smaller shops who tend not to, or make our own.

As for bringing the shopping home - we take our own fabric bags with us so we don't need to take the plastic ones. In any case, many of the plastic bags provided by the supermarkets are biodegradable, so wouldn't be suitable for recycling like the crocheted plastic bags.

This is one reason why cutting down on plastic use is important.
