it is about 16 files, with img tags with widths and heights specified. I think we will still want a couple of images, but narrower than the 14 pixels they are at the moment, so we still have a ltitle margin effect.

Without pointing out the totally obvious black box, what do you think?

I am going to square off the black boxes today, then it is the turn of the main site.

I wonder if black menu headers, a dynamic width, and losing the "green fade" menu boxes are the first step?

This would certainly go a long way to that unified look.

I reckon the black boxes will look a lot better as the dark brown ref I gave you last night. And I'm not sure about the black box under the logo, should it be beige too?

ClocK ticking!

I am ready to do the squaring off, of the black menu headers, this is time consuming job, if we do it, logically we should have the same style on the main site! I know Tahir for one did not like this.

Since we are keen on a unified style,, I ain't to keen to waste the time on this one, only to have to redo it, if people will not accept the style on the main page.

So now is the time to make your objections known.

Can we try the buttons on the front page as brown (it'll be easier won't it?) to just see what it looks like? Personally O think the black is too harsh on the beige ground

For a unified look shouldn't we copy all the colors and styles from the forum though, not just change one thing. e.g. the left hand of the front page and even the top should be very similar to the forum. Don't see the point of just changing the background color of menu items to brown ( I assume this is what you mean by the buttons?).

I agree (about changing everything).

I'd personally like to see "have you tried?" changed to "articles" or similar and moved higher up the menu. I think it gets what's what gets confused.

I mean the buttons for the items under main menu and user menu, this should give us an idea of the look as the background beiges are the same as the forum already (aren't they?)

But if we are going to make it look like the forums, then we can surely see that look already e.g. "Main Menu" here will be the same in appearance as "Main Menu" on the front page.

I think they should both look the same, as far as possible. Which set of changes is easier to make?

I just thought it was easier to change on the front page for testing purposes, that's all.

Losing the round edges is a long winded change on the forums, which is only worth doing if we think it will be acceptable on the main page.

But there are quite a few involved changes as well in making the main page take in this style.

I really think people should be able to decide now, the basic point as to whether the general menu style now used on the forums is what we want to go with? and whether it should be square of round edges.

Converesely if we want to wait a little and get used to things, that is fine to. I am simply trying to avoid making a big set of changes and then having to repeat the works.

For the record, I like the forum look and would like to see it duplicated on the main page. I am also slightely in favour of square edges.
