hi there, ive just joined your site today and obviously i can see these are very old posts, im amazed to find soo many like minded people  ...ive lived in a touring caravan since new yrs day 2007 divorce forced me into the 24yr old luner delta family caravan where i took up residence in the grounds of a friends garden centre, 10 months later i moved into the bottom of a field of another friends horse farm where i stayed for two and a half yrs before leaving my old life of a diagnostics engineer into the world of site assistant for forest holidays in the new forest nr the isle of wight (from the northeast) with my 10 yr old converted touring tabbert dry van, with no expence spared i kitted it out with a walk in heated granite tiled unsuite shower room, elecronic loo, under bed water heater and on-board water storage tanks, microwave, washing up sink and taps, fridge, etc...it already had a hob and blown air central heating. changed the lounge into an L-shaped had a lovely fitted carpet with underlay and have loved every minute of my new travelling life ive just completed my 3rd yr on the forest sites and have returned to my hometown as my mum isnt well....ive adjusted to my caravan lifestyle to the extent that i never want to live in a house ever again lol...ill just add that my caravan is, nearly 26ft long and 8ft wide in body so living on my own i have lots of space inc a seperate dining area and fixed double bedroom with french doors seperating from the main living area. after reading these old posts, various issues raised i have over-come....correspondance address, my mums and sisters for driving licence, bank details, post and jobs...doctors just sign me in as temporary resident, dentists are a problem as waiting lists seem to get longer and longer when ever i land somewhere new... i tried to fill in the census about 2 yrs ago but they failed to send me the forms after 3 fone calls to them and now my only worry these days is...am i liable for council tax (which is how i came accross this thread).... it would appear i am ? someone once said at the start of my travels 'its easy to disappear, its when you reappear theres a problem' !! ive been in the tax system for the whole time, signed on the dreaded for a few short periods, but never been approached about council tax...im scared im going to be told some awful home truths now  |
