Since last December - converted tractor shed with 6 and a half acres and outbuildings. Needs work! Planting to be done soon and animals to be acquired...

I didn't post in the old thread either. When I first came upon DS I was living up the valley nr Sally in Wales in a 3 bed mid terrace house on the side of the mountain with an average garden that we fought to grow a few veggies in and foraging berries on the mountain.

Now we have moved to be closer to family and are in a 2 bed mid terrace house in what I suppose is the University area of Swansea. Less foraging and a smaller garden but we are managing to grow a lot more veggies and have use of land at my dad's place on the Gower if we want it, we get given the excess from what he grows too.

3 bed semi, hoping to move in about 3 years to somewhere without near neighbours. Our neighbours didn't like the chooks, complained to the council, don't like the fact that we have 2 dogs, looked down thier noses when we converted half the lawn to veggies and now generally don't speak, not that we mind the latter So yes we would love to have no moaning neighbours.

If I worked for your council I'd invent a sustainable gardening award and put your picture in the local paper for growing your own veg, just to annoy the whinging gets.

2bed semi detached housing association house, on a housing estate, on the edge of a small rural town in north west devon-population1300. like others i am waiting for a lottery win so i can move somewhere with no near neighbours-i really dont like people-i prefer animals!

3.5 bedroom detatched 70's house in Worcester,desperate to downsize to a boat but it's not an option for husband. 5 mins walk to allotment [aquired this year] 12 x 8foot greenhouse at home [free cos my dad didn't want it.] this gives Boris a place to grow tomatoes and chillies

It may be a bit corny but what matters is Home being where the heart is. I've lived in bigger, and smaller homes, in the towns and cities and in the country, but here we are content. As our lives change so will our needs but enjoying where you are now is important.

A converted & extended old rural school, with about 1.5 acres mixed land. Small rear garden backing onto field, bottom garden has been left wildish for 100+ orchids and others, flower beds and pond in between,. Over the road (1 car wide, straight with national speed limit?) we have a small bit of natural woodland, orchard, storage barn and veg areas. Heaven but hard work. 3 immediate neighboring properties, rest are scattered over a large area.
Downside is the woods owned by a local farmer that mean the area over the road only gets full sun to about 3 in the afternoon, but good shelter from westerlies so you can't have everything, to the east, about 15 miles of scenery on a good day, b****y cold in easterlies, but you can't have everything! now there's an idea for a new thread? Wish the price of diesel would come down, nearest sensible bus stop is 6 miles away.

3 bed 1950's semi detached with large garden, a tight squeeze when the 5 boisterous children ruled the roost Now with just the 4 of us it doesn't seem so small. Looking forward to moving somewhere less populated though when they all eventually leave (they keep coming back, often with a partner )

A two bedroom detached house on the South Mountain of the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia. We sold up in the UK and bought this place outright on the equity from our UK house. We have 20 acres of land, 2 ewes & lambs, 2 horses which we ride weekly, 5 laying ducks and 2 dogs plus a cat. A Vegetable plot the size of an allotment, and a pumpkin patch.

Now, a farmhouse in rural Calvados with an 3 bed gite attached on 0.8ha. Various barns, animals, large veg patch and fledgling orchard Then, a 3 bedroom semi just outside Dartford with tiny garden and an allotment. Bit of a change then.
