I've been working through the leftovers in the fridge.
There's two avocados my daughter brought with her and then didn't use. I didn't particularly like them last time I tried but that was ages ago.

Any suggestions of what to do with them that might convince me they're worth bothering with.

I like them with just a spot of olive oil and a fine sprinkle of salt.

They are also quite nice mashed with a bit of mayo, S&P and then used in a sandwich with beansprouts or crunchy lettuce.

With balsamic vinegar - it cuts through the texture and gives a slightly sweetened tang to the fruit.

Or dogs. Avocado is poisonous to dogs and most dogs don't fit in a sandwich.

Thank you for the reminder I'd forgotten that.

Thanks for the other suggestions, I'll have a hunt through the cupboard and see what else I've got to go with them.

Wiki:

Toxicity to animals

There is documented evidence that animals such as cats, dogs, cattle, goats, rabbits, rats, birds, fish, and horses[19][32] can be severely harmed or even killed when they consume the avocado leaves, bark, skin, or pit. The avocado fruit is poisonous to some birds, and the ASPCA and many other sites list it as toxic to many animals including cats, dogs, and horses.[33] Avocado is an ingredient in AvoDerm dog food[34] and cat food.[35] However, the ASPCA has declined to say whether this food is safe or not.
Avocado leaves contain a toxic fatty acid derivative known as persin, which in sufficient quantity can cause equine colic and, without veterinary treatment, death.[36] The symptoms include gastrointestinal irritation, vomiting, diarrhea, respiratory distress, congestion, fluid accumulation around the tissues of the heart, and even death. Birds also seem to be particularly sensitive to this toxic compound. Feeding avocados or guacamole to any non-human animal should be avoided completely. Negative effects in humans seem to be primarily in allergic individuals.

I wasn't suggesting that he actually make an avo & chihuahua sandwich: it was just the only dog I could think of who'd fit.

How are you feeling today mochyn?

ETA.. the dog in my avatar would eat the bread before you could make the sandwich!!
