So am I.

I am sure he was much loved, and will be sorely missed.

My thoughts are with you and yours.

I just wish I'd gone down there when the vet phoned, and been there for him when he went.
It can't be nice to die with strangers.

Very sorry, my sympathy - you didn't know he was going to leave so quickly.

So sorry.

The old chap clearly enjoyed a happy life with you and was very loved. Don't beat yourself up about not going down when the vet phoned, You weren't to know that the end would be so sudden.

So sorry. Please don't feel guilty-easier said than done I know, but you'd find some way to blame yourself whatever the circumstances-that's what caring for animals can do to you

Well, we're just back from burying him... wrapped up in our best tartan blanket.
It is a fair walk down to our graveyard, so I gave him a good old cuddle on the way.
He looked peaceful, which was nice.
Not much else to say really, except that I can't think of any way he could have been a better dog.

He lived well, and he died well. What more could anyone ask?

It has been quite surprising how many people have missed him. There have been no end of people that we have never, or barely met expressing their condolences.

He had a good life and a better death than a lot of people can say.

We are getting to this stage with Ben, our retreiver - he is 9 and spends all day snoring under the dining room table. A walk is a real effort for him - he's just tired.

Kate is going to miss him,but at the mo, he dosnt seem to be in any pain, just old.....

I might not get another dog after this.......the losing a member of the family is too hard.
