I've often heard they are too fiddly to bother with - but I tried a Beech nut for the first time at the weekend, and found it rather good. Also, not that fiddly!
Anyone else eat them? Any tips? Hazards? Thanks

I only eat them as I walk under the tree - don't think to gather a few, so am also interested in whether they can be stored and how to peel them easily

Think they're rather yummy

beech masts seem to be good this year, some years there is nothing in them, but the one round here are lovely and plump this year

They seem to be full round here as well, the road is covered in a beech mast flour, I must get round to trying some. As for hazards PFAF might be worth checking, it seems large amounts might be toxic but I doubt many people would eat that many.

This year does appear to have been a good one although it still seems to vary from tree to tree (literally) round here.
