Whilst I'm sure Tahir wants to re-route the public footpath for reasons which are entirely honourable, lovely and in everyone's best interests, I can see why the RA objects to footpaths being changed on principle. Most of them existed long before the landowners currently affected were born, form part of our heritage and IMHO should be preserved as they stand.

I think the best approach would be to approach the association and pursaude them the change would be for the better.

Since I bought my land in February, I've not yet been aware of any ramblers, just fly-tippers, two legged foxes, tenagers doing wheelspins etc in the tracks, pikies cruising about, (got the shotguns out for that one! )..........But no nice harmless ramblers.

We do meet many nice ramblers, we are them ourselves (not members of the RA). There's also a large number of people who haven't a clue how to respect other people's property.

I take it back - we did get to move the footpath, in the end, and it was two footpaths that crossed in a X across a field - we (in the end) got them moved so the went along the boundary (ie the from the north gate to the north gate, and the south gate to the south gate, rather than vice versa!) So the RA do see reason.

If we do decide to go down that route then it'd be replacing a pretty crappy and in parts non existent foot path with something hedged n both sides with at least some foragable edibles and more than a few fragrant ones too.

I'd also hope to get the local primary school involved with perhaps a wildlife or veg garden accessible from the footpath, so mostly positives I'd say.

Makes me think that if you did talk to the RA. you'd be able to point them at your role in this site, and that should convince anyone of good intentions

We'd have to delete all the material about Jonnyboy/rubber/etc.etc. before they came and looked at the site.

Found the relevant bod at Essex County Council, there's a 3 year backlog in dealing with footpath re-routes

Well just move it and they'll either not notice for three years, or suddenly notice and be forced to pull their finger out, giving you the opportunity to complaian to your councillor about inefficency etc.

They're a bit stuck up round there, very middle class, I reckon they'd be straight onto it. Wonder if it's worth talking to the parish council?
