200ml almond oil
10 ml lavender oil
10 ml tea tree oil
10 ml frankincence oil
this mix is good for any type of surface /punture wounds fresh or green ,it will cure immersion foot and similar skin rotting conditions,
it is a powerful anti bacterial ,anti fungal salve and soothing action on pain/itch as well as not stinging on application
works on humans and many critters i have tried
as a bonus it repels flies and lice and smells pleasant
applied to a wound or manky skin it is safe as far as i know (10 yrs with this mix )
do not drink ,you may die |
Would not recommend using for a cat. They have low tolerance to many things and are easily poisoned (and obviously lick themselves just to compound the problem). Have an idea that they react badly to tea tree oil.
(By the way, Savlon is also poisonous for cats - its the phenol in it - same as is carbolic soap.)
You can get hibiscrub from the vet for dilution at home and that is what we use on cats.
Other than that:
Pretty much with Tavascarrow.
Have done injections, syringed out abscesses on sheep and cats, also bathed and poulticed abscesses. Given pills (and sometimes had ballistic return of pills.) Nursed chickens with trickle of food in beak.
Unless very obvious what is happening (which it can be) tend to get vet's opinion, and if sheep, opinion of very long term breeder of Soay as well. (Sometimes Soay can be a little bit different to what the vet expects.) Have once or twice thought we knew what was going on and it turned out to be different. Thought ewe had chest infection, didn't clear up with antibiotics given by the vet to us to administer, took ewe in after 24 hours and it turned out to be a serious heart murmur. (Much to the surprise of the vet who hadn't heard one in a sheep before, said they usually die of something else first.) |
