A soaper friend of mine recently organised a soap swap... She asked her friends who make soap, took numbers, and asked us all to send that many bars (along with stamps for postage, equivalent to how much it cost to post), and then divided up the soap and sent it out to us.

I now have a smashing little pile of lovely soap, all sorts of varieities I'd never make.

I'm rather inundated with soap at present... But are there enough soapers here for us to have a go at this in a month or two? We'd need a big lump of that time for allowing any cold processed soap to cure of course.

I wonder whether Christmas might be an appropriate target? The beginning of an Annual Downsizer Soap Swap...

What a lovely idea. I've done swoaps before and they are a lot of fun. Why stop at soap though, couldn't we extend it into a 'downziser parcel swap' so those who make other useful things can play too and we all get a selection of items?? Would that be too complicated?

Doesn't sound too complex...

So...

Shall we set a few parameters?

Lets see how many people are up for this, lets give that a couple of weeks, and then set a date some time at te end of November to get the parcels to one of us, who then divviies out the goodies and sends them on in plenty of time for Christmas.

Heck, I don't remember ever being this organised before

Yes, count me in too (wracks brains to think what I could make - anyone want a voucher for a website? lol )

A couple of other sites I belong to usually do a 'secret santa' thing around Christmas/Yule, and its really good fun!

I was thinking sloe whisky or sloe gin? But maybe too expensive to post? (also no idea it has worked out until it's opened )

Would it be easier for everyone to pick a name out of a hat so to speak and post directly to the recipient? Otherwise postage may work out costly if it has to go to one person for sending out to someone else resulting in double postage costs.

They might be able to identify who made the sloe vinegar then
