I have taken possession of a Trout Indian Runner drake from Gardening Girl and BTL. BTL has apparently christened him The Vicar because of his dog collar. He's currently either chasing all comers away from the duck house as they try to go in to bed, or attempting to shag them. The only one who's not bothered is the Muscovy Drake who is about four times his size and simply boffed him on the back of the head and walked past him.

*sigh*

drake...shag.....the two go together. You wernt expecting him to do aught else? Our last drake (not this one) was at it from the minute they came out the house till they went to bed every few minutes (amazed it never fell off)

That's fine - but he's chasing the KC drake off the laydeeees ... not that the laydeees are complaining, I think they like a chap with a bit more about him, even if he is wearing a dog collar

Now back to the point in hand. I once had a drake who would shag anything. Constantly. It got to the point where he would harass the geese. He would sit at the entrance to the goose house and wait for them so the geese wouldn't go in at night. I ended up having to lock him in a barn while the geese went to bed and then allow him in to bed too. In the morning he would swagger out like Leslie Phillips while the geese looked haunted and had a "look" in their eye.
I only ever partially solved it by giving him more ducks of his own flavour. Eventually the fox got him.he died protecting his goose ladies though so e had that going for him.
I would occasionally separate him for a few day with the correct girls and he would calm down briefly but he would always return to form. He just thought all the girl no matter how big were his. Just for amusement you can picture it. He was a call duck and he geese were embdens

That's a beautiful mental image I am hoping that the drake-bossing is all down to pecking-order-shuffling because he's new - only night two last night - and the pair of Muscovies have only been here a week, too. If he doesn't settle down I will have to pen him with a few laydees separately, bless him. He is a VERY upright runner, a lovely looker.

Seriously though,he was the bottom of the order with our ducks,he wasn`t allowed in the duck house.
Obviously, all that sex has gone to his head.
