All my sweetcorn, runner beans and then the French beans failed. I had to buy in runner bean plants.

Not wishing to show off and trying to eradicate the doom and gloom but everything I sowed has come through and born goodies.

Looking forward to it.

I finally have a female flower on my trifid butternut squash, but not sure if anything will come of it. There is also one pattipan squash growing nicely, and after losing several, think there are others that have set.

it might be a couple of days before it is in its prime

I cut the pattipan squash yesterday as there are more coming along and it is a good size. The butternut squash is still with us, but not sure if it fertilized or not.

You have done well Sgt. Colon. Brilliant. I have the problem of seeds such as sweetcorn, courgettes and beans needing a certain amount of heat just at the time when our house is at its coolest, and the compost I bought this year was rubbish unfortunately. We had trouble getting any at all and weren't careful enough when we did find some.

Thanks MR

We had that problem last year. Seedlings were rubbish and grew to hardly anything. In fact there will be something in a thread somewhere about it.

Fingers crossed for better luck next year MR.

DPack, I'm waiting with baited breath.

the toms are rather traumatic, perhaps they need a little warning like telly progs

"have you been affected..." etc

At least the cuc has shown a little effort, though not enough to feed you.

We had germination problems with carrots, peas and sweetcorn...and one Aubergine eventually grew. It has carried on slowly and is only now thinking of flowering
The funny shaped tomatoes were even odder than usual!

The tomatoes had a few signs of blight so came out and the crate grown squash moved in to the polytunnel

Pirate found a few caterpillars on the kale. We want more insects...but not these!!

Oh dear. I have been fairly careful this year about checking the cabbage of all sorts for eggs and removing them as soon as seen. Something has been at them, but think more slugs and snails during the wet spells. The tomatoes are an odd shape; perhaps you should consult a book or on line to find out why so they are better next year, but at least you got a fair few.

Dpack, your cucumber looks a little bit shy peeping at us over the top of its container. Please reassure it that we are friendly.

Glad I am not the only one to have failures, and as you say Sgt. Colon, hopefully next year. Just hope we can get the seed all right.

Caterpillar lookout every time we go in the garden now
The tomatoes are supposed to be that sectional shape..but the added oddbits are probably sketchy pollenation . They are tasty!!

Great haul there GZ. I grew two of those plants and got nowhere near that many toms.

You are right though, they are very tasty.
