rational planning is usually a good idea

removing applications that have no progression towards a harvest that needs grid distribution might get some of the nearly ready stuff connected

the grid scale harvests, the battery banks to buffer excess wind/solar/the bigger versions of the shetland array etc have a better claimto early connection to the upgraded grid than unfinished nukes or assorted zombie plans that are as yet unfunded etc

ps ev needs user end grid scale distribution sorting as well

pps the "production" price of harvested is less and with wind 60% less than from fossil or nukes

Battery claims
The following link is to the complete list of claims I have been compiling.

https://martindavidwalker.blogspot.com/2024/09/battery-claims.html

The new claims in the last week are as follows.
January 16th 2025, ProLogium Unveils Fast Charging Inorganic Battery At CES 2025
Claims of cheap production, low temperature performance and 380wh/kg energy density with a target of 450wh/kg. This is more than double the energy density of typical LFP batteries. It is worth thinking not just about the range and cost implications of half the materials but also the reduced carbon footprint.

January 15th 2025, Samsung solid-state battery with highest energy density set for mass production
A 2027 cheap mass production claim. My last Samsung report was last July and the batteries were said to be 500wh/kg with potential to go higher. Still not much solid detail though. 2027 now achieves my general rule of ignore it as hyperbole at the 3 years or more mark!

January 15th 2025, The struggle for mass market sodium batteries
Less an advance more economic lessons, though frankly I see the Chinese getting sodium through the hurdles. They take a longer term economic view.

a slight wild card but

rokon

they make petrol ones, not the point (noisy and petrol is not ideal)

2 wheel drive, high torque, their ones only need 7HP(the drive train eats quite a bit of that as it is mechanical and relatively heavy)

"fly by wire", 2 hub motors(see koenigssegg for the type of motor that has an ace power to wt ratio), good batteries are becoming increasingly available

a very off road machine, better than a quadbike or rear drive bike, (or a rokon), and plausibly carrying an energy harvest kit if extended travel is planned(see carry capacity) seems plausible

development might cost a bit, once it was worked out a good design could be relatively cheap enough for a "mule" type of transport

much like the C90 changed urban noodle delivery, and much else, a leccy version of a rokon could transform could "challenging"rural travel
