excellent

I've used the grubby and matted bits of fleece to mulch roses in the past- works very well and they seem to enjoy it

Thermafleece is wonderful stuff. The trouble is that it costs a bloody fortune, particularly when you think of what the producers get for the raw fleece. Hopefuly, however, the price may drop if it becomes more popular.

What are you implying? That I can't remember web-addresses?

Here's the Thermafleece site: https://www.secondnatureuk.com/info.htm
And I'm certainly not directing you towards grubby ewe-snogging sites - you can find those yourself!

on a slightly smaller scale

i often line my hanging baskets with fleece or at least put some in the bottom of the basket to retain water

the fleece rots away over the summer and is good for the plants

works a treat actually

That's a great tip. I have a vague urge to "do" hanging baskets, but talk myself out of actually acting on the urge because of problems with the lining stuff (told you it was only a vague urge )

i use them mostly now for tumbling tomatoes but have grown all kinds of things in them..........the only problem is that they have to be watered every day but for tumbler tomatoes they are ideal....

i just stuff a handful of fleece in, shape it round the inside of the basket and put in the compost

it doesn't fall through or anything

i have also used old woolen jumpers and had multi coloured basket linings

I really will have a go next summer. I grew tumbling toms in window boxes a few years ago. They did really well as the boxes are outside the upstairs windows and they got a lot of sun. Only problem was when they started to fall off and hit the car
