Feel free to shoot me down in flames if this is a terrible idea - or totally impractical.

There are so many wonderful recipes buried in chat threads that deserve to be in the recipe section. I know that I've often scoured the recipes section looking for something that I know I've seen here somewhere - but where? The current Ginger Curd, for example, ought to be moved across, and the Parsley Sauce recipes, and recently the beef offal recipes. I could go on and on.

Who compiles the recipe section? Could we be given some very simple instructions as to how to add to it - or have I missed something?

Thinking big, we have the accumulated knowledge to produce a wonderful cookery book if we were so minded.....and then, if we kept it to ourselves, for the first time owners of a glut of chard, or mooli (or whatever) it would be there and accessable.

Well, like I said, shoot me down in flames....

Anyone can add recipes. If you go to the recipe section of the site there's an 'add recipe' button. It'll probably ask you to log in, which you do with your normal username and password. Then the section is your lobster.

If you want to add good recipes to the database, then please, please do. The instructions are here.

Also, if you ever feel inclined to compile some of the recipes from the threads for a particular ingredient, then we would be very happy indeed to put them up as an article on the front page. It's the sort of thing that we know should be done, but always seems to get put on the back burner. Everyone is most welcome to help!

Thanks. So, (sorry, I'm currently a bit stupid with a horrid illness bug) does this mean that I can add other people's recipes?

And in the case of new members posting recipes, would it not be a good idea if the mods spotted recipes and prompted ....?

Do I understand rightly that a Downsizers recipe book has been considered - and fallen by the wayside?

That'd be a fabulous thing to do, but we need to get more recipes up first, so please guys add some recipes

I love the idea of a recipe book. Perhaps a "Wake Up" call to anyone who has ever posted a recipe..... I know I've done a couple or three. Do we have any illustrators?

A quick PM is nice as a matter of courtesy, but I think most people will be happy for you to do it as long as they are credited.

We've had trouble finding illustrators for other projects, but you never know...
