Is it practical to use a catapult to hunt rabbits?
At present I can take an air rifle up to the allotments when its quiet but if I'm up there doing normal allotment type stuff the chances are that I won't have the rifle with me. So would be be practical or even possible to use a catapult which I could take most times?

Modern catty's with their tubular elastic and wrist braces do pack a punch, but I think it would be a lucky shot that kills or stuns a rabbit. I have killed a pheasant with the catapult,but again it was a lucky shot (before it's said I know the pheasant wasn't lucky
I used to cast lead ball for the catapult, using a lee .420 round ball mould. I did think that this was a little heavy, but it packed a mighty punch. You can buy ready cast ammo which it possibly lighter and consequently faster. Top tip! Practice lots oo! and keep your thumb out the way!

....are indeed powerful but even with a lucky shot using good ammo you are more likely to injure the rabbit rather than kill it. Though I enjoy rabbit for the pot killing them swiftly is important to me.
Take care using the air rifle on an allotment.....if it is council owned you may well be breaking the law using it there.
