Hope someone can give me a little help. My father has a plantation of Tamboti (a rare hardwood) on his farm in South Africa (52 acres). He would like to find a buyer either for the entire farm with plantation in place or a buyer for the timber. Does anyone know if there is a timber merchant or dealer in the UK who might be interested? The buyer would be responsible for all the felling and shipping arrangements. We are currently in contact with the SA DWAF to find out if any permits are required for felling. Also does anyone know if there is a guide for pricing on various timbers, we wouldn't like to sell at below market value. I really don't know where to start looking
It would be used mainly for making furniture but also woodturning (bowls etc.) and I think possibly bows for archery, I'm sure there's a lot of other uses for the wood.
