Is it possible to get a P45, when temporarily stopping the business? I have a P45 from back in 2008 when i finished working with The NT, but its not really recent as such. I've got two part time jobs for over winter, and one has asked for a P45.

Not usually. You can fill in something else, I think, if you haven't got one. A P46?

Do you think I could give them the old P45? Is it just to get a tax code thing? As I've never paid tax when running the business, so it should be the same assuming you have the same one throughout life.

Contact your local tax office, you'll find them very helpful.

Dont use the old one.

1, Its prob for a period not suitable for this year any way IE pre April 2011.

2, your selfemployed earnings are not show on it so even though you have paid no tax you have had taxable earnings that will have eaten up some of your allowances. If they dont know about them you will pay to little tax on what you do earn.

Thank you all for replying and Pm.
I'm guessing i can find the tax office via the council website? I did know where it used to be in Aber, but they have moved from there to I think not in Aber.

P45's are only valid for the tax year they were given in.

as already said the tax office is a good place to start.

Tax office still in Aber, but they tried to hide it?
Coming into Aber from the hospital side,as you follow around heading for the Station, that last sharp bend, head down the road on the left ,on the bend.

Or do as i do,park in Lidl Iceland carpark, walk down the side of the building, across the road, and cross the brook by the little footbridge, and the tax building is up there on the right.

Is it still definitely there? that's where it was before, in the tall grey building? or at least that where I used to walk to it, but I thought it moved over 2 years ago, unless something else moved..

Thanks Chez, I couldn't find anything before, must have had a internet head block moment.

It was quite deeply buried. I like to think of myself as a Google-Yoda and it took me a few minutes to find it. I expect they keep it hidden in case people ring them up

As Vegplot says, though - when I have to speak to them, they are unfailingly helpful and friendly.

I normally have that skill too, well OH calls it Google-Foo, but it was obviously switched off

I will go and find them when back in Aber.
