I have two plants grown from apple pips, they are about 6 inches high now and have lots of leaves and I'm wondering whether I should be doing anything to them. I'm not expecting great things of them but I'd like to give them the best possible chance to get big enough to flower. Any advice would be appreciated.

If they seem happy, I would just make sure they get enough water and leave them to it. You might consider looking at the roots in the autumn to see if they have enough room.

You may be lucky and get something worthwhile, but you probably won't. We have two wilding apple trees; one produces pretty blossom but the apples are pulpy, small and tasteless, and the other produces some half decent apples, but nothing special.

Thanks Rose. I'm not really expecting to get any really usable apples from them, it's more and experiment to see what I can achieve from apple pips, and if they flower that will be a success as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sure you will get apples but you just won't know what sort.
