What the heck!
I don't believe it !: After laying a big clutch of eggs back in April and May of this year, one of my geese has made a nest in the back of one of our pig arks! There are two eggs in it right now, the eggs look very clean and fresh and she's protecting the site with vigour. I'm almost as confused as she must be.
I just don't know what's happening to the seasons these days? So much for geese starting to lay on St Valentines day !
Jumping the gun rather a lot I know but if my goose was to hatch goslings from these eggs, there's certainly not going to be much, if any fresh grass about for her youngsters to feed on. I suppose it will have to be grain, stock feed carrots and potatoes. In my experience, this is a most unseasonal occurrence.
I've been keeping the geese in this ark for a while, unlike the others that I have it has both a floor and a door that locks. Its a safe place to lock them up at night.
