From my perspective, the problem with both nuclear and coal is that neither is particularly renewable, e.g. see:

which suggests that if we ran all the UK electricity from coal, then our stocks would only last another 9 years. Similarly, if the world had solely uranium based electricity, then uranium stocks would only last 15 - 20 years (and I've seen shorter figures elsewhere).

Both positions of the speakers seem to be based on continued growth (which might make those 2 numbers above smaller), but what happens when we run out of both coal and uranium?

Rather, we should be using our current surplusses in energy sources to move (downsize) to a more sustainable economy.

im unsure but i have been collecting data. i wont make my mind up yet , as dont know enough . i should sort a web space to share my info though .coppice or technicium well ??/////garden or jet set beans ??/////i'll shut up now .
