Ah, I see, so it is a lot about looks then, I thought I was missing something fundamental. Also being short I can't really seem to reach in to them all the way. I like the s/s, it stands up to clumsy cleaning fairly well (when you remember), although I wouldn't mind a ceramic sink with a draining board.

We have a rather delightful plastic champagne coloured

sink which gets marked by pans stained by tea, coffee and wine.

There will be a ceremonial smashing up of the sink when it gets taken out

I would prefer a ceremonial stringing up by the nether regions of the man (and I am sure it was a man) who thought that the Asterite sink was a good idea to unleash on an unsuspecting public.

Absolutely - can we also add the bloke who previously owned this house and chose the sink - put it in with a knife and fork and also put a waste pipe in the bathroom going uphill

No, but I share your pain, TD and I used to live in a rented, furnished flat (ie we had no choice in the fixtures and fittings) with the world's *most* stupidly designed sink, some kind of plasticky type surface, not smooth, and the draining board had narrow grooves that actually sucked the water back up and kept it there so it was not only physically impossible to clean it without a couple of day's effort and a skipload of Mr Muscle, but once you had, it then kept the rinsing water sitting there. Perhaps it was some kind of innovative humidification system, maybe the designer heard that standing water is good for wild life and thought, that's what modern day kitchens need. But either way we'll need at least two sets of strings for Judith's ceremony.

Hold the second set of strings - that sounds like Asterite to me!

We seem to be approaching a downsizer standard that includes, biggest cooker you can afford, loads of chopping boards, knives and utensils close to hand, salt crock, and plenty of workspace. Not sure what recipes call for poster paint though.
