f you want a few mackerel and cant be bothered feathering,try a 2 or 3 hook flapper with a floating bead below each hook and baited wth mackerel strip.
Just use a griplead and fish it on the bottom.
For one thing if the mackies arent about and you suddenly get one on this set up,reel it in and bang the feathers out,its like an early warning system for them.
For another thing you wll pick up gars and other species of fish on this set up.Think ve had pollack,coalies.dogs,gurnards,flatties and tope on this setup.
Another thing is its ten times easier than feathering all day
Clearish water only though.
