We've been to a 'writing retreat' today and I have written two thousand words of a novel - making five thousand in total - and have developed a coherent structure for it.

I have been given a 50 year old patchwork quilt to demolish and
re-purpose.
Some of the fabric is really lovely, some of it is yuck (nylon)

It was also stuffed with 3 million pairs of old tights.

but, I am determined to use it all again.

I will patchwork most of it, and use the tights and other scraps to make and fill beds for the dog and cats.

The lady that made it has held onto it for all this time, and said she couldn't bear to throw it away, and was thrilled when I said I would be happy to use it. She has asked if I could send her a picture of what I make with it. She doesn't know yet but I am going to take a piece of each one of the different fabrics and make her a patchwork shopping bag, so she will have something useful out of it again

This is how it is proceeding so far.....

unpicked and washed.......

cut and ironed........just a few, will keep going....

I'd love to be making something at the moment. But this new job is preventing me from getting anything done at all and it's terribly depressing

I barely even get on here to comment any more !

I have just bought some fabric for my first clothes making project; a dress for Hazel. I'm also in the process of cleaning up my 1920's Singer treadle sewing machine. It seems to be in working order which is a bonus, but just needs the leather band replaced.

I'm preparing 2 small pieces of lino for my training session tomorrow.

My 'student' want to lean how to register his two colour Christmas cards properly, so I'm currently trying to make my robin drawing look a bit more robin-like

I made this over the last couple of evenings, while watching repeats of Monroe.

That's it for now for me. I won't be doing anything else Robiny/Christmassy until mid-December!
