Posted in this part not in Chat deliberately..... My Dad and his wife are planning to come to the UK from Japan by train and are having some questions so i thought this way they could read this even though they aren't on the forum and wouldn't be any way!

Just wondering if anyone has done it recently? We did it 15 years ago so can't really advise, and because Dad is going East to West they are using a Chinese agency not a British one.

Anyone got any advice? Any thoughts about taking sleeping bag sheets or not???

I would love to do this, but have nothing practical to add - other than I don't think this bit of the forum shows up unless you're logged in.

Chez is right. Chat & Community are both only visible to members. Downsizing abroad is public and vaguely appropriate. Would you like me to move the thread?

I cannot help with advice but I would love to hear how they get on as we would like to do this as well. There are so many things we talk about doing. I don't feel sad about not doing them but I hope we will do some of them one day.

go for it ! Went west to east in 1990 ! great experience - especially when going across the border and they change the wheels on the trains to fit the different gauge track !!!
