Blackcurrants have done well this year. Picked 28kg. So that's enough jam to last me until 2025.

Congratulations Tai Haku. It is lovely to get the first fruit from something you have planted. We had half the wild raspberries I picked from the woods last night. If the weather holds and I get the time, I might pick enough to make a couple of pots of jam from them.

picking 800g- kilo of raspberries a day - need to think of more raspberry recipes!

no damsons or gages this year
but have Victoria and Majorie seedling have fruit - nothing like ready yet.

Bramleys are poor for me this year - but the ones they do have are really big already - so maybe making up for it that way
Noticed my other apple tree - which was grown from a pip by previous owner, is loaded, so we shall have apples.

blueberries are few

our blackcurrant bushes are neglected and unnetted in the flower border - but went looking and picked a kilo.
so a bit of a hit and miss year

Nothing better than your first crop from a tree you've planted, Tai Haku especially if it's something you haven't been able to buy.
My Gipsy cherry plums are ripening at different rates so I only have three ripe at any time. I like them though, they have the advantage of being the first home-picked fresh plum since autumn last year, a bit like Beauty of Bath apples. Maybe not the best when compared with main season apples but you're grateful for the taste of properly grown fruit again.

I just had what I'm sure was a Satsuma Japanese plum, the first from a tree in the orchard . . my plan says its Flavorking pluot but I think that died and was replaced. Delicious.

the blackberries are starting to redden and look better than i have ever seen them

the pyo farms that sd visits each weekend seem to have better variety and quality than in the last few years

it is interesting to follow fruit yields and might be useful for bee monitors and climatologists to do so

A bit mixed really. Blackcurrants the size of gooseberries, gooseberries the size of small plums! Redcurrants not stripped by the blackbirds for once. Pears/Apples good although the normally reliable Russet has no fruit whatsoever and looks diseased.

As for the 2 plum trees: the Victoria is fully laden but nearly every branch has broken right at the top - I'm heartbroken. The Early Rivers set vast quantities of fruit but they are starting to ripen without having grown very much (and we have been doing some thinning) and at least half the crop looks a bit manky - never happened before & no idea why...

Nope, satsuma as in a variety of "Japanese" plum. One of the pointy types that come in from Spain, Israel and South Africa. This one has bright red flesh with skin that's a maroon colour when ripe.

No comparison to shop bought, they're ALWAYS picked too early

I'm allready trying to give blackberries away.
My other fruits it's only their second year ...
Blueberries - laden
Cox's - good
cherries boysenberries and raspberries - poor
greengage - good but gone purple (not from sawfly them ones have fell off). The few I had last year stayed green.

I thought it would be amazingly early for citrus.

Well, it'd also be a major achievement. All our trees are outside, I can't see any citrus surviving here

I dunno. They grow citrus in northern Israel, and they have proper hard frosts and snow in winter. or is it an average temp thing?
