Steradent tablets are good for cleaning the loo bowl, just drop a couple in the pan and leave them overnight. Citrus peel and avocado skins make excellent fire lighters when dried. As for stalks and outer leaves? SOUP. Obviously.

Goodness - loads of things I can do with the steradent tabs then! I think the loo bowl is my fav! Nesquik choc milk mix? Its a dry powder. I dont do milkshakes (lactose intolerant), but can I use it in cakes?

I'm sure you could use it in cakes, as it's sweetened you'd need to cut down on sugar.
Perhaps you couuld mix it with a bit of water for a non alcoholic slug pub or a wasp trap in the Summer.

One of our helpexers bought it....... its pretty dire - chocolate milk mix....thank God my kids never wanted it.

I think chocolate milkshake powder is one of those things best thrown out if you don't use it for milkshakes. Otherwise you'll end up wasting other useful ingredients. You could use it to add to a bowl of rice krispies to ruin them. As for left over chips, I balance mine on my left shoulder when starting a new thread in Does it really matter.

As I don't use breadcrumbs in cooking, I always freeze odd bits of left over bread and use it to make bread pudding. Every so often I have to evict all the bread from the freezer and make one. Think the time is coming quite soon. I also have to find the frozen sloes and make some bramble wine from the frozen blackberries.

My vegetable peelings go in the wormery or on the compost heap. The worms have been quite happy outside under the bay tree this winter and put their heads up when I feed them.

Sceptic? A deliberate, amusing typo? We have a septic tank and using up Granny's old Steradent tablets in the downstairs loo doesn't seem to have affected it's efficaciousness.

Certainly might. Twice the safe dose s NOT twice as safe.

At work some years ago the cleaners 'killed' the septic tank by putting too much toilet cleaner (or cleaner of the wrong type) down the loos and sinks.

Usefully, we wouldn't. Otherwise, we'd know you as sceptics, not septics.

We throw all manner of stuff down our tank. Nothing much seems to bother it, even a heavy dose of caustic before Christmas.
