Any reccommendations.
Is it a good idea.
I don't have the physical good health to cope with turning traditional heaps.

We have one of these, the manufactures description

The Most Beautiful Composter in the World, Produces Both Solid and Liquid Compost, Food Safe, BPA and Rust Free, No Assembly Required, All-in-One, Envirocycle Composting Tumbler Bin and Compost Tea Maker

Makes amazing compost in very short time but you need a very large amount of woody material as well as soft green. The problem is its very heavy to roll off the base which has small wheels in it but if you get it off you can then roll it to a bed . Makes very good compost tea in base. It also seems to have doubled in price.

the dalek ones seem a bit disappointing , stirring matters if it is in a drum

iirc i have seen a drum on a stand thing which can be "rolled" on it's mountings.

what sort of volume do you need to compost?

if it is kitchen + a bit of gardening a wormery system might be good

mixture is pretty tidy in terms of size to throughput and is fairly easy in handling terms as you put stuff in and ladle out stinky soup as required but you dont want it too close to dwellings etc
( a 50 gal barrel will sort a big garden or allotment and kitchen waste in a rat free way, it will also eat rats etc )

heap the prunings etc etc and just wait and/or use them as ventilation in a mixed heap.

a shredder is a neat tool for composting whatever system you use, especially in building heaps
a shredded heap activated with a full ferment mixture starter is unlikely to need turning if it has a loose build( use twigs) and a carpet or other thatch.

composting bulk to add fibre to soil needs a different approach to composting for feed
both can be done with minimum fork work.
