Haha, I agree Chris, and the presenters for the NZ and Australian versions lack Kevin's finesse, but they do sometimes surprise with something out of the box and I am interested to see how others address problems we all have in relation to storage etc.
The meeting proceeded the second time (with the fifth person turning up five minutes late, but at least she got here). Those present were largely the newer members, along with our Public Officer and our President. Around the table, with the exception of the newest recruit, we each stated our intention to resign which shook them all into a state of action to the extent that we have approved the review of the Articles, agreed to have the AGM at close to August as possible, to have an independent Chair from Council who will be briefed as to the status quo and to generally make a bit of progress (though the President and Public Officers want to step down from their positions). The two Boys have not made a decision as to whether they will stay or go, but I think they will stay now they have some surety of progress, though acquiring the grant will predicate their final decision methinks.
So the new committee would consist of mostly newbies, but people with imagination, an understanding of the necessity for paperwork and a willingness to be creative, as we will all be submitting written nominations for the five positions.
The newest member (our 'fifth' this morning) was somewhat warned of the potential of the confrontation but nevertheless discouraged. She has expressed an interest in hiring the Smoke Room for Bowen Therapy activities subject to some minor weather proofing which would provide a regular if small income, and the boys and I between us could fit the kitchen facilities should the need arise, so basically it was fairly positive.
The Public Officer informed me today that the rebellious member had threatened me with physical violence on several occasions. I just laughed and said she hadn't met my right upper cut yet.
So now I have to knock together a grant application and get on with things generally instead of sitting back with my feet up, but at least I can do it with rather more confidence we will get somewhere with a new committee. |

Glad you got your quorum and got things organised. Going around threatening physical violence is very stupid as if anything at all happens to you, the police will be knocking on her door first. Anyway, hope she is all mouth and no action on that. All sounds very positive, so hope the disruptive element gives up and goes away.
Storage is always a problem. Son and DIL have just moved from a flat to a bungalow. The rooms in the new place are the same size or larger, but there is a distinct lack of storage, so shelves, cupboards etc. are having to be hastily organised. The cat seems quite happy; they were rather worried about her as she is a rescue cat and had a rather traumatic kittenhood, but apart from a few minor points, like no bath side to walk along to insist her human servants run water from the bath tap for her while they are otherwise engaged, she has settled in well. Bath tap water always tastes better than water from her own private water fountain don'tcha know.

Library open at last, for 1 hour only-per week. It has taken me forever to get in remembering the passwords and so on-I wrote them all down but couldn't find them in the book. It will take me a week or so to get back into "it"-taking half an hour to manage to login to the forum.Basically I am a bit thick!
I have had a long lay off with all this virus and still not managed to find one. I isolated at home except for shopping, and visiting a neighbour who like me is old and so we didn't take a lot of notice.
I have been busy on the holding and am clearing a large patch of weeds by hand, organic status for me without all the costs of joining the club. I don't sell my produce from the garden I eat it myself, or give it away. Although the clearing is for a garage for my MF35 tractor. When I worked at a steel factory I got steel from them, either cheaply, or if off old buildings there, given away. I am now doing something with that steel.
I have also changed my Mitzi 3.2 for a 2.4 Toyota lwb pickup, very pleased with it-especially the economy. And I am now retired from the tractor dealership where I was the third and lowly storeman-put it away/fetch it or sweep up man, missing the£220 a week already.
The library is only available for one day a week so far-and this is the first day, and only one computer available. Anyway it is better than nothing. I will have a look around to see what else is happening. |

It is kind of you all to say you have missed me-thankyou.
It appears I lied-sorry-the library is open for me for one hour only when open as opposed to the 2 hours I had before! However it appears it is open 2 days each week, for me to bore you all, but for an hour each day-it used to be 2 hours-before Boris took pity on you all, and 4 days!
Kind of you to say they are missing me at work, MR., but not so. I am a pedantic type who wants the I's dotting and the T's crossing as I do the job; primarily because I have a short memory and so forget if I don't "do it now, once and properly".
I may have found myself a girlfriend, we will see how it progresses; we both go to the swimming when the pool is open. It appears she lived in the same road as me when we were children in Walsall, Staffordshire, about a mile away-long road; and she now turns up in the village where I used to live, about 2 miles away from me now! I was going to give the chat up line "are you following me". It sounds grand but we lived in the better end of the poor-a semi with garage, she was in a terrace without the garage-Iam a snob! She has a lovely quiet Alsation bitch who is so soft and playful. The only thing is that I can do what I want, when I want, so not going to let it get out of hand! It is a case of very slowly does it. I am so used to doing what I want and when I want to.
News at home is that I am clearing an area to build a shed for my new pickup and tractor/loader. I have decided that at 61yr. the '35 should be inside, but have not told it yet, it's to be a surprise. So I am clearing an area of weeds. In the process I have found a lot of square section steel so the shed has a material cache hidden under to weeds-bonus. A lot is 2 inches square, and some bigger and smaller. I am getting it together in sizes before I work out how big the shed will be. I have some 8 ft, long corrugated sheets-another bonus.
The worst part is that I have been bitten by some bugs from the area I am de-weeding on my arms and legs. I am very spotty-and I've heard it-"don't scratch them".
The pooter is about to get rid of me so over and out see you when next open! |

Glad you got back on the computer again Gregotyn. Hope to hear from you next week. I will let Cassandra know you are back with us. She seems all right from her posts on FB, and is now, but the sounds of it, working on getting things sorted at their hall. It is deep winter there at the moment of course.
I think our village is soon going to be without benefit of a public use computer. It only had one at the library, and that only open during school hours, so I assume that any student that wanted to use a computer either had to use one at school, or go 5 miles to the larger library. Now everyone has to go 5 miles.
Husband and son are slowly rebuilding a tractor, but currently son's new bungalow is taking precedence. He had a leak in his roof, so they went up to have a look yesterday afternoon, and think they have found the source of the problem, so hope to sort it today. |
